My Story — The Roots of YogAbhyashala

About five years ago, something inside me began to stir. On the outside, life seemed fine — a stable routine, certain achievements, and the kind of stability I thought I should be grateful for. But inside, there was a quiet unrest, a constant questioning of purpose and meaning. I realised I wasn’t truly fulfilled, yet I had lost touch with what would bring me joy.
That inner questioning eventually became overwhelming, pulling me into one of the darkest phases of my life. I felt disconnected, exhausted, and unable to function as I once could — like I was slowly sinking with no clear way back to the surface.
On my psychiatrist’s advice to pause and heal, I set out for Rishikesh — a choice that became a turning point in my life.
I wasn’t just seeking rest — I was seeking answers beyond Western medicine. What I found was a traditional yoga school, and within just a week of intense yogic training, I began feeling shifts. My mind slowed down. I was able to listen, to focus, to socialize again. And within a month, I began to feel like myself again — or maybe for the first time ever.
Yoga didn’t just “help” — it realigned me. It reconnected me to my breath, my body, and my truth.
As I kept practicing, I began to see my patterns clearly. I had been living in a world that didn’t align with my inner nature — a world obsessed with productivity, speed, luxury, and outward validation. Slowly, yoga showed me what my world looked like: quiet mornings, nourishing breath, meaningful connection, and slow, authentic growth.

A New way of Being
I have made peace with solitude and silence- and now they feel like home. I started valuing presence over performance, connection over consumption, and healing over hustle. I stayed in Rishikesh for over three years — living, learning, and slowly beginning to teach. I studied Hatha Yoga, restorative practices, therapeutic techniques, and energy-based healing, not from books, but through lived experience.
YogAbhyashala was born from this transformation — from this deep knowing that yoga is not just a practice but a way of coming home to yourself.
Today, I teach from that place — a place of having been through the darkness, having lost myself, and finding my way back through breath, movement, sound, and awareness.
